Abstract. At the beginning of the twentieth century a Russian histologist. professor A.A. Maksimov offered and grounded by arguments the monophyletic theory. He believed that all blood cells and also some of connective tissue forming cells developed from the one germline stem cell. which he named an indifferent mesenchymal lymphocyte-like cell. Theorys contention was in the process of debates between unitary and polyphyletic followers with different views on histogenesis of blood cells. As a consequence of this discussion A.A. Maksiovs monophyletic theory supporters achieved the victory. Tractates of professor A.A. Maksimov brought into the light the revolutionary discoveries in the field of the blood transfusion science and hematology and in the creation of tissue therapy as a very promising tendency in treatment of many severe diseases.
